On Wednesday, authorities in Guilin, Guangxi, issued a red flood warning, the highest level, as the Lijiang River’s water level rose 3.61 meters above the warning line. The water level reached a record high, endangering lives and property along the river.

Guilin authorities have urged all relevant departments to take measures to prevent further flooding as water levels continue to rise.

The National Meteorological Center (国家气象中心)warned that the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River could face similar flooding challenges in the next two weeks as the rain belt moves northward, bringing more heavy rains.
