The Dragon Boat Festival is a special holiday in China. In 2009, it was added to a special list by UNESCO.
This year, many people traveled during the festival. The holiday lasted for three days. Over 110 million people traveled, and they spent about 40.4 billion yuan.
Some people stayed home because of Gaokao exams. But places with dragon boat races were still busy. Guangdong is famous for its dragon boat races. Many people looked online for trips there.
People also do other fun things during the festival. They make and eat zongzi, which are sticky rice dumplings. They also hang special plants for good health and drink special drinks for blessings.
Shi Yuanyuan, a mom from Shenzhen, took her 3-year-old son to see the dragon boat races in Foshan. Her son loved the boats.
Popular places to visit were Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, and Chongqing. Some people also traveled to other regions like Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and South Korea.

During the three-day holiday, which started on Saturday, more than 110 million people traveled within China. This was a 6.3-percent increase from last year. They spent about 40.4 billion yuan, which is around $5.57 billion.
Even though some students were busy with important college entrance exams, many people still visited places famous for Dragon Boat Festival celebrations. One popular activity is dragon boat racing.
In Guangdong province, known for its dragon boat races, many people looked for tour packages online. Besides the races, people also made zongzi (rice dumplings), hung mugwort plants for good health, and drank special medicinal liquor.
